Tyrone, located in Fayette County, is just a short drive from Atlanta courtesy of direct access onto the i-85. Reportedly named after the County Tyrone in Ireland, after it was said to have a similar lay of the land, it was first settled by Irish Farmers in the late 1800s. The town’s railroad was built in the early 1900’s, and whilst the original wood depot burnt down in the 40’s, it was rebuilt and stands in the very same spot, serving as a venue for family reunions, parties and weddings! Tyrone’s growing Downtown features coffee shops, antique markets and family owned restaurants.
